We all know Twitter is an outlet to express your thoughts and get in-the-moment updates on things that interest you. Honestly, we use Twitter to get the first word on nearly everything. There are many uses for Twitter, and one Halsey fan proves it for us all.
Halsey is an incredible singer and songwriter, known for her songs Closer with the Chainsmokers, Bad at Love, and Without Me, to name a few. Chances are that you, or someone very near and dear to your heart, can recite each of those songs word for word. We know Twitter user @_fran_cesca sure can – but in this case, it got her in trouble.
On May 21, 2019, Halsey fan Francesca tweeted the following statement with a gif of Halsey’s face:
Confession: Driving home from Penn State I got pulled over/given a ticket for the first time ever and when asked why I was going 99 in a 70 I was ~dangerously~ close to admitting I was bangin out to @halsey’s new song Nightmare🤷🏻♀️🙃
By the power of Twitter and Tweeters doing what they do best, the tweet made it straight to Halsey’s mentions and Halsey took it upon herself to tweet back, offering to pay the speeding ticket imposed on the girl.
What’s your Venmo. I’ll pay your ticket. DRIVE SAFELY PLEASE!!!!

This can’t be real. Halsey pays the speeding ticket! Before the day was over, the fan posted a screenshot of her Venmo account showing a $250 transaction from Halsey herself.
Hopefully none of you ever have to rely on Twitter to handle your legal issues; however, this is definitely a lesson to be learned, as well as something to consider regarding social profiles for personal brands and businesses.
